Relay For Life 2012

As promised, we’re starting off the new year with a BANG! United Against Cancer will be hosting our annual Relay for Life 2012 in collaboration with the Canadian Cancer Society. The Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life is a celebration of survival, a tribute to the lives of loved ones and a night of fun, friendship and fundraising to beat cancer.  Relay For Life involves teams of 10 people who participate in a 12-hour overnight non-competitive relay. Teams consist of students, teachers and staff, family members and friends. The money raised by participants collecting pledges helps the Canadian Cancer Society to continue the fight against cancer by:

  • Funding research on all types of cancer.
  • Offering credible information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment.
  • Providing support programs for people living with cancer and their family.

This year we will be hosting our event during reading week at the University of Toronto St. George campus on:

Date: Tuesday February 21, 2012

Location: Sandford Fleming Building, University of Toronto

Time: 9am-9pm

We have a great line-up of entertainment and volunteers for our 12-hour event. St. Michael’s College, SMC Improv Team, will be there to provide a line-up of improvised comedy (Seriously, they’re hilarious). Free henna tattoo by Party Impressions. 12-hour will never be in awkward silence with our DJ’s from Magenboys Entertainment. Food sponsored by Pizza Pizza, Pizza Nova, Boston Pizza, and…baked and other cooked goods by our own volunteer team! Highest fundraising team, most spirited team, and much more will be winning prizes during the day. This is certainly an event that you don’t want to miss especially during reading week when you have no classes!

To register, follow these simple steps:

1) Register a team of no more than 10, or join an existing team online at: http://convio.cancer.ca/site/TR?fr_id=10706&pg=entry

2) Have friends, family, and whoever you can to pledge you to relay at our event. You can have your fundraised money updated online or you can do this offline by getting a pledge form from us. Send us an e-mail at: uac.club@gmail.com and we’ll reply back almost instantly to give you the pledge form!

3) Arrive at the event and don’t forget your pledge forms and money!

4) Have fun with the fun-filled day that we have in store for you. (You won’t have time to be bored. Honestly!)

On behalf of UAC, we sincerely hope you’ll come out to such a fun and important event!

Cheers,
